Join us on the enchanted isle of Amphora on Saturday, July 18, 5:30-7:30pm.
We'll have a luau feast provided by Larry Vito's BBQ Smokehouse, opening with a 'pupu hour' of assorted island appetizers. The buffet wil feature Pulled Kahlua Pork (smoked low and slow 'til meltingly tender and Huli-Huli Chicken (marinated just like they do on the Big Island with crushed pineapple, soy, garlic cane sugar and ginger).
While you enjoy the tasty treats, relax to the soothing sounds ofKani 'Olu
Kani 'Olu performs traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music as well as other cover songs done in the Hawaiian style. The band consists of Wayne Creekmore (bass), Na Maka Harris (vocals and tenor ukulele), and Matt Harris (percussion).
Traditional songs are performed in the Hawaiian language. Na Maka will be happy to share with you the translation and meaning of the songs….just ask! Other songs are hapa haole, performed in English. Both are performed in the nahenahe (NA HEY NA HEY) style common to musical gatherings of family and friends in Hawaii. The nahenahe style is melodic, soothing, and soft—reminiscent of a calmer, less hectic era.
