From our seductive GSM, to our dark and brooding Petite Sirah, this is the perfect gift for the red wine lover on your list. The GSM is wonderful paired with holiday turkey, while the Mourvèdre and Petite Sirah match up with heartier winter dishes.

This collection consists of one bottle each of our 2014 Grenache,  2014 Syrah, and 2014 GSM:

Our 2014 Grenache is subtly seductive, and your first sip invites another...and another. It has a lovely strawberry fruit character, floral aromatics, and it dances light and lively on the palate. This wine is so delicious that it is unlikely to spend much time in your cellar in any event, but it will still develop nicely over the next one to three years. Lovely fruit character and a friendly and appealing structure make this a great wine to sip on its own, and yet it has the complexity to compliment a range of meals. We think the flavors of this wine would pair beautifully with a slow-cooked roast of pork or a roasted leg of lamb with North African spices, lemon, and onions.

Some things just go together: salt and pepper, bread and butter, bacon-lettuce-tomato… and Grenache-Syrah-Mourvèdre. These three varietals (in various proportions) form the backbone of notable blends throughout France’s Rhone Valley, and they are equally companionable here in Dry Creek Valley. In our second “GSM”, the Grenache (40%) provides a seductive strawberry fruit that wraps around a brooding, dark-noted core of Syrah (24%). The Mourvèdre (36%) seasons the blend with a woodsy spice. The result is a lovely synergy, a wine that is appealing right now, but that promises to amply reward a little bottle-age.

Our 2014 Syrah features ripe, dark fruit notes, and then the wilder attributes that make this varietal so enchanting: just a touch of roots, earth, and charcuterie. It is medium bodied with supple tannins, and would play well with a range of dishes--from the classics like cassoulet, to Tuesday night improvisations, to pasta e fagioli.
