Join Amphora’s winemaker/owner, Rick Hutchinson, for an in-depth grape-to-glass harvest experience.
Winemakers believe that great wines begin in the vineyard or more specifically, from great grapes do wonderful wines flow. So it is here that we begin our wine journey. You'll start with a walking tour of Timber Crest Vineyards with Rick, where he'll discuss the key components of what goes into a great harvest. You'll learn about brix measurements and degrees of ripeness that lead to the timing of harvest. You'll have the opportunity to taste a hot grape in the vineyard and then follow its progress to the winery where you'll taste freshly pressed juice and fermenting must. You consider fermentation methods as you sample wines from the barrel as you ponder the attributes of oak aging. Throughout the day you'll learn about the many variables and complex decisions involved in the crafting of great wine.
